About

Welcome! My name is Thomas, and I have been interested in saving and investing ever since my father introduced me to the subject when I was around 17-18 years old.

I am passionate about helping people's personal finances, and work on a daily basis in the comparison service Tjenestorget, where you can get price offers and save money on various services you need in everyday life (either often, or occasionally).

And interviews I have done with users of Tjenestorget have confirmed that there is money to be saved!

Saving money is a large part of Utbyttemaskinen.no.

Another important part of this site is stock investing.

Over the years in the stock market, I have made some observations, gained some experiences and knowledge that I wish I had had when I first started investing.

Why I started this blog

I had several reasons for starting this blog.

I wanted to create a platform that should be of value to you, if you are at the start of your investing career.

But also for more personal reasons. My closest supporter and conversational partner regarding savings and talks about stock investing was my father. When he suddenly passed away in 2021, I was left feeling like I had no one to share my thoughts and ideas with about the stock market.

And that is why this blog was born. As a kind of outlet where I can continue to give my contribution and view on saving and investing. A platform for both you and me, in other words.

Utbyttemaskinen.no is a blog about personal finance, with the main focus on building passive income sources, investing in shares and funds, as well as the occasional saving tip.

My aim is that this website should be both for those who are not too interested in all the technical aspects of investment, and for those who want to learn more about share analysis, portfolio building and trading individual stocks.

I will do my best to convey what I have learned about saving and investing in an easy-to-understand way.

An important goal is that the content on this page should be of high quality and genuinely helpful for you as a reader.

My experience

Previously, I worked at SpareBank 1, where I wrote helpful articles for use in the banks' news centre.

I wrote articles about:

I also have an education from BI International Business School, but I have learned most of what I convey on this blog on my own, by being in the stock market through both peaks and troughs.

By making the wrong investments.

By selling too early.

By not knowing what I owned and sold in panic.

Having felt first-hand how all this feels, I believe is a great advantage when I now have to pass on the experience.

Because I've come a long way from not knowing much about how the stock market works, to being hugely aware of my finances and investment strategies.

Among the strategies is DGI (dividend growth investing). And this strategy is what made me start this site. You will be able to read more about this in the "Passive income" tab in the menu.

I hope you find great value and learn something new in the content of Utbyttemaskinen.no, and wish you lots of luck on your financial journey!
